I took TV to reliable repair man when I thought there must be serious problem because of the explosion, and he showed me that the bulb I purchased was a cheap poorly constructed knockoff. I am very disappointed that Amazon would direct me to this company. The bulb works just fine and fixed the tv. Never knew the quality of the picture before but it appears to have fixed the television.Notes on removal and installation of bulb: Replacing the bulb is fairly easy and I only encountered one problem. The hot power wire has a paper thin O terminal that goes around the post on the back of the bulb. This broke while removing the nut that secures the hot wire. I had to solder it 3 times because for some reason the solder wouldn't stick. I'm not sure how well it will hold and am leery of vibrations breaking the connection. So BE VERY CAREFUL when removing that nut. Finally got the solder to stick and was able to finish the job. If you don't have any basic experience soldering you may want to purchase a whole new housing unit with the bulb because that's just plug and play to avoid a possible "I dun broke it" scenario.
